These bulbs are designed to work perfectly in cars that have a projector lens in the headlght (not a reflector). A projector lens collects the light from the bulb and then distributes this forward towards the road. These bulbs provide 3000 lumens per bulb while a standard 9G provides 2250 lumens. The extra brightness is needed to avoid a "spot of darkness" in the center of the light image, the projector lens simply requires more light per bulb to perform well.
