Care advice
Maximize the life of your auxiliary lights
The harsh outdoor climate can be challenging with rain, snow, dirt etc that all have an impact on both the performance and lifespan of your auxiliary lights, your LED bar or your work light. We aim for you to enjoy maximum brightness and thanks to some simple maintenance advice, you can ensure that your lights perform at their best and last for a long time.
Washing and cleaning agents
For optimal heat dissipation, anodized aluminum (thicker oxide layer) is often used in the house for auxiliary lights, bars and work lights. However, these materials can react negatively when they come into contact with certain chemicals and degreasers, therefore we recommend that you use a mild detergent containing Isopropanol (Isopropyl alcohol, IPA) when washing. Please use a soft cloth to avoid scratches and do not use dish soap as it dries out the lighting. If the lighting has become dull and whitish, it may be due to incorrect use of degreasing agents or other chemicals that are not intended for powder coating.
Stone chips and scratches
It is of great importance to regularly inspect your lighting to detect possible stone chips or other damage to the surface treatment. Fixing such damage early is crucial to prevent water and salt from penetrating under the paint, which can eventually lead to corrosion or peeling of the finish. For repairing stone chips, you can use a suitable paint stick or another form of paint surface treatment.
Good to know...
- Dirt that gradually builds up causes the lighting to age significantly faster than necessary, with a milky lens that deteriorates the light image and makes you less safe in traffic. Therefore, clean your lighting regularly.
- Do not forget to rinse the lighting thoroughly before cleaning with the sponge so that dirt does not remain and cause scratches.
- If you use a high-pressure washer, make sure you don't stand too close and don't use a pressure so powerful that it may damage the lighting.
- Don't forget to also wash the back of the lighting, where there are important functions that contribute to durability (such as a breathing membrane).
- Occasionally check the wiring to the lighting to find any damage that could affect its performance and lifespan.
- To maximize the life of your auxiliary lights, consider purchasing stone chip protection that effectively protects against stone chips and scratches without affecting the light pattern.
